Interclub No2 as held at LeFevre

Interclub No2 between LeFevre Dolphins, Salisbury Jets and Findon Comets was won by the Jets by a narrow margin of 18 points. This is not a big margin when you have 6 riders on the grid (2 from each club) and scoring is 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. In 8 Divisions ranging from Under 7’s to Over 30’s.

There are 3 ‘run-throughs’  of racing and after the first the score line was Jets 63 Comets 59 and Dolphins 45. The Jets increased their lead after the 2^nd round 128, Comets 119 and Dolphins 87.  Round 3 saw Comets lose a guaranteed 5 points with Matt Bryant falling off in front of the pack and excluded for causing the restart.   The Jets were scoring well in all grades whereas Comets came to pieces in Division 1 and Division 5. There were some outstanding performances from the Dolphins younger riders with Jack Norman undefeated in all 3 heats and newcomer Mitchell O’Neill scoring well in Division 7.

Interclub No3 at Findon on Sunday August 21^st will be the decider as it is the best out of 3 and both Comets and Jets have won 1 match each. If round 3 is a draw between these 2 clubs then it is a count back on points and the Comets are just 12 points in front.

It was great racing, great entertainment and all done in a great friendly atmosphere. Congratulations to Lefevre on a great presentation.

 INTERCLUB No3 was held at Salisbury on Sept 11th and was won by Findon:Points:  Comets 195    Jets  173   Dolphins  134

Interclub No2 was held at LeFevre last Saturday with a special Parade and minute silence for Bill Rufus prior to the start.  After a few weeks of rain and dark skies the Sun come out to spread some sunshine over the track which produced brilliant racing from all riders of all 3 clubs involved.  

Findon Comets won the day by 9 points from Salisbury Jets  with LeFevre Dolphins in 3^rd spot. There is no doubt that Bill would have been very proud of his beloved LeFevre Dolphins as they fought the might of the Comets and Jets in the younger grades. 

There are 3 Interclub Meetings throughout the year and it is the best of three that wins the Interclub Shield. As Findon Comets have won the first 2 meetings they have retained the Shield and Round 3 at Salisbury on August 14^th is a ‘dead rubber’. 

There are 8 Divisions in each Team. Under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, Over 30 and Division 1. Each Division has 2 riders with a Reserve/Swing rider.  There are 3 ‘run-throughs’ of racing with 2 riders from each club in each race (6 on the grid).  

All riders score points so the scoring 6,5,4,3,2,1. 

You could sense that the Jets meant business when, after the first round of races, they were only 1 point behind the Comets. Round 2 saw the Comets increase that lead to only 7 points and at the end of the Final round the Comets were 186 to the Jets 177 and the Dolphins 139. 

Racing in all Divisions was fast and furious with a number of aggressive encounters to keep everyone on their toes.  

Congratulations to all riders on a brilliant meeting.
